AVI has a passion for properly designed miniature speakers as they often give far better results than much larger and more expensive ones.  They are also easier to accommodate and cost less because smaller enclosures are less expensive to manufacture.  In our experience, most music lovers need or prefer smaller speakers.

Twelve years ago AVI introduced the original Neutrons.  Though the sounded similar, they were a big improvement over the then industry “Reference” BBC LS3/5As. The original Neutrons received very good reviews and sold surprisingly well, but AVI were confident they could do better. AVI re-designed them as NuNeutrons. These were further improved and became Neutron III’s, and eventually were refined further to become the Neutron 4s.  Thanks to their almost universal praise by Hi Fi magazines around the globe, the AVI Neutrons are an established reference and have sold in the thousands! Users include small classical record labels, film scoring mixers, broadcasters, composers, critics and thousands of Hi Fi enthusiasts and music lovers the world over.

The Neutron 5s are comprised of a five liter, ported enclosure, fitted with a 125mm doped paper mid/woofer and a "top of the range" 25mm fabric dome tweeter.  The small loss of sensitivity involved with this type of drive unit is more than offset by the greatly reduced distortion and coloration that they offer.  The crossover is textbook second order, using massive Ferrite cored inductors and polypropylene capacitors.  Internal cabinet resonances are damped by a measured quantity of acoustic wadding.

Used in conjunction with the matching Neutron Five Subwoofer they become a high performance audio playback system for today’s digital media age.
